Our Philosophy
Overkill (n.) — doing more than is strictly necessary.
For us, that's the whole point. We believe NZ gamers deserve more than good enough to level up their gameplay — more power, more performance, more future-proofing when you need it. And we bring that same mentality to everything we do, including how we treat our customers. Service that goes further than you'd expect, because average is never the goal.

Gaming, done properly.
This isn't our first rodeo. Thirty-odd years, and counting! Some of us go right back to Gamezone on Symonds St - one of NZ's first specialist gaming stores, and one of the first to sell online here at all. We flogged games off trestle tables at the very first Armageddon, helped bring PlayStation to New Zealand, ran GPstore, and were a big part of the team behind Mighty Ape, one of the country's largest online retailers.
Now we're pouring all of it into something new. Welcome to Overkill - 100% New Zealand owned, proudly independent, and run by people who love this stuff as much as you do!
The idea's simple: gaming is all we do. Great gear, locally held stock in our own NZ warehouse, ready to ship. Got a question, or need a hand picking something? You're talking to people who genuinely care which one you walk away with. And if something ever goes sideways, just give us a shout - we'll sort it, no drama.
This is just the start for us, and we're stoked you're here for it. Thanks for backing a local, independent NZ business - and welcome aboard. Let's play 🎮

Meet the Overkill Team
That's Ollie at about ten, already on the clock in the Mighty Ape warehouse. His family's been behind some of NZ gaming retail's most familiar names (Gamezone, GPStore, and Mighty Ape!), so he grew up on the warehouse floor picking & packing orders.
Ollie's played more hours than he'll ever admit. WoW, CS:GO, Minecraft, to name a few. Overkill is his evidence that all those hours were in fact... research.
Gaz has worn multiple hats over the years right from the start at Gamezone on Symonds St, through GPstore, and then helping launch and grow Mighty Ape. Building deep supplier relationships and a comprehensive understanding of the NZ gaming market spanning more than three decades. His product knowledge and experience is second to none.
Che spent 15 years leading marketing, brand, and communications at Mighty Ape. He brings that same strategic and creative energy to Overkill’s brand from day one.
A lifelong gamer since the Atari 2600, Che's drawn to games with a strong narrative. His all-time favourite games include Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Red Dead Redemption 2, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The SNES still occupies a special place in Che’s heart. A keen Formula 1 fan, you can catch sim-racing on the F1 game too.
After spending 13 years as a Frontend Web Developer and UI/UX Designer at Mighty Ape, Suzannah joined Overkill to build the store's digital experience from the ground up.
When she's not designing new features or writing code, there's a good chance she's convincing herself she'll stop after "just one more turn" in Civilization.
Scott brings hands-on experience across sales, logistics, and accounts from over 20 years at GPStore and Mighty Ape.
His gaming journey started with the family Commodore 64 and NES and he's been doomed ever since. These days he's deep in the Remedyverse (Alan Wake, and Control, with Control Resonant high on his most-wanted list this year), the Persona and SMT series, and still holding out hope for a Metaphor follow-up from Atlus. He's lost more hours than he'd care to admit to the Fallout and Elder Scrolls franchises.
